Questions people ask
Can the watermark be removed afterwards?
Not easily, but do not treat it as security. The text is drawn into the page content rather than added as a separate annotation layer, so it cannot simply be selected and deleted in a reader. Someone determined, with the right software, could still get it out. A watermark tells honest people how to treat a document; it does not stop dishonest ones.
Why is my watermark hidden behind the page?
It is not — it is drawn on top of everything. If it looks faint, raise the opacity. If the page has a solid white background image covering it, that image is drawn first and the watermark still sits above it.
Which opacity should I use?
Around 15–25% for something meant to sit behind readable text, which is the usual look for DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL. Higher than about 40% and the document becomes hard to read. If the watermark is a small line in a corner rather than a big diagonal, you can go much higher.
Can I use my logo instead of text?
Not yet — this stamps text only. For a logo, use the Sign PDF tool, which takes an uploaded image and lets you place it anywhere on the page.
